Help more people discover and experience the benefits of Taoism and the Taoist Arts
Established in 1954, the International Taoist Society has a long history of promoting the benefits of Taoism and the Taoist Arts in the UK.
The White Cloud Temple in Beijing is the largest centre for Taoism in the north of China and because of our strong friendship spanning many years, they have asked us to establish a Taoist centre in the UK. The first of its kind in Europe.
A place where people can come to learn the full range of Taoist Arts that we teach and a place to host Taoist visitors from all over the world who want to share and learn from each other. The Taoist Centre will be known as the Sea Cloud Hall and will be located in Leeds.
In the digitally connected, “always on” society that we live in, the pace of life is constantly accelerating and more and more people find themselves feeling stressed and disconnected from themselves, the world and other people. A centre for the study and practise of the Taoist Arts will offer ways to re-balance this.
The Sea Cloud Hall
The Sea Cloud Hall will be a space that offers a full timetable of the Taoist Arts. A place where people can visit at any time of day to learn Tai Chi, Qigong, Tao Yoga, Taoist Massage and ‘Hand of the Wind’ Kung Fu.
A place offering weekend workshops and longer courses. A place to host an annual Taoist conference where experts, speakers and guests from throughout the world will share their wisdom and teachings about the Taoist Arts.
These Arts exist today because they work. They have been proven over many centuries to give people the skills to relax their mind, body and emotions, strengthen all three and become resilient and healthy. To be Physically, Mentally and Spiritually Fit.
Everybody who volunteers and teaches for the International Taoist Society has experienced this in their own lives and we are inspired to do what we can to provide opportunities for more people to benefit in similar ways.
We have found the perfect building for the first Sea Cloud Hall. A permanent home for the Taoist Arts in the UK and a base for our work internationally.
As a community we have raised 50% of the money needed to acquire and refurbish the building and we need a further £200,000 to complete the purchase.
If you would like to support us in creating the first Taoist Centre in the UK, we are working on a number of ways you can donate or invest.
