The International Taoist Society (ITS) was established in the 1950s in the UK in order to promote the ancient and rich traditions, culture and knowledge of Taoism.
Taoism can trace its routes back thousands of years in China. The ITS is interested in creating a wider awareness of the considerable value of Taoism.
It is particularly focused on this activity in the West, where Taoism is largely misunderstood.
The ITS runs a series of weekend seminars in different parts of the UK, as well as in Europe and the US.
These are intended to allow individuals to benefit from the culture, science, philosophy and arts of Taoism.
These benefits include:
Physical
The promotion of regular exercise is a key practise of Taoism. Over thousands of years they have developed many exercises with proven health benefits.
Mental
The philosophy and practise of Taoism helps calm the mind and emotions. Mindfulness is a modern name for a something the Taoists have taught for centuries.
Enriched Lifestyle
Through the appreciation of a different culture, practitioners learn about art, music, philosophy and dance. Creating an enriched experienceof life.
Community
Through regular learning and volunteering opportunities, practitioners enjoy strong relationships of mutual support within a positive community of growth and development.

classses in 11 countries.
The ITS has published 2 books and an online video course recently and this is helping raise awareness across the world.
We have also invested in our teachers to support them to raise awareness in their local communities.
